Augusta, GA - 10 July 2024

The Bridge Builder Communities, dedicated to serving young adults aging out of foster care in Augusta, Georgia, is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous $250,000 grant from the Georgia Power Foundation. This significant contribution, made in partnership with the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), underscores a robust commitment to supporting vulnerable youth in our region.

This substantial grant from the Georgia Power Foundation will be utilized to develop Augusta’s first tiny-home community for young adults aging out of the foster care system. This investment and partnership will enhance and expand the services provided by the Bridge Builder Communities which will consist of 25 tiny homes and a 4,900 sq ft community center where the youth will receive valuable supports to include: vocational training, housing assistance, and life skills development, all aimed at fostering independence and stability for young adults transitioning out of the foster care system.

Dr. Jackson Drumgoole, founder, and executive director the Bridge Builder Communities, expressed gratitude for this vital funding. "We are deeply thankful to the Georgia Power Foundation and the Community Foundation for the CSRA for their unwavering support. Housing is a key component for a thriving workforce,” said Kerry Bridges, Region Executive, East Region. “Georgia Power and the Georgia Power Foundation are committed to helping communities across the state support their workforce needs to ensure prosperity for Georgians.”
