Our tiny home village will be located located between the Laney-Walker and Harrisburg neighborhoods and will provide safe, stable, and affordable housing for young adults aging out of the foster care system as they transition into adulthood.

The Village

The Advantages of Tiny Homes

Tiny homes were chosen after considering many options to develop a safe and affordable community. They are a manageable size for young adults learning to live independently.

Each efficiency-styled home will be 320 square feet and feature a central area for living, dining, and sleeping. A bathroom and a general storage closet are included. Kitchens are outfitted with a two-burner induction cooktop, microwave oven, and an apartment-size refrigerator. These appliances are chosen for the safety of the community and each individual occupant. The home can be modified to meet each resident’s special needs.

Each tiny home will be furnished with the items needed to start a new home. This will include a new bed with linens, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils; a table and chairs; and complete bathroom supplies. They will be move-in ready. Upon graduating from the community, the resident will take all the items originally found in the home with them to begin their post-graduation, independent life.

The Floor Plans

Designed initially for a 10-unit community, the site is expandable to 25 tiny homes. The goal is to invite builders, interior designers, and community volunteers to provide the building materials, construction, and furnishing. A continuous campaign will be conducted to promote the needs of the project as new members join the community.

Built to Expand

Pivot, Inc. is an Oklahoma City-based non-profit tiny home community that services young people ages 12-24 living on their own without parental support.

Through Pivot’s comprehensive support programs, young people are provided with an array of services including housing, nutritious meals, counseling, emotional support, the ability to attend school, tutoring, and recreational and social activities.

We are working closely with the Pivot team to utilize the success they’ve already achieved to help launch Bridge Builder Communities.
